In 1783 when times were becoming less troubled than during the Reiving, the 9th Laird felt able to build a sumptuous Georgian Mansion House described at the time as 'the most magnificent barn in the Borders'. Since then, trees have been planted to give shelter and to soften the aspect and the Victorians turned the house round (!) to maintain Pringle's privacy in the 1860s.

Torwoodlee continues as a family home to this day, loved and cared for by another generation of Pringles.
